Today, one of the most important aspects of art is the attraction of an audience. But as time goes on for most statues that were already present, they are often ignored. This raises the importance of amplifying an art piece in order for it to bring more attention to the Henry Ward Beecher sculpture. One example I saw where art was amplified was over by Battery Park in New York City, there is a statue of Jon Ericson and recently there was a band aid place onto his right shoulder to symbolize that he got the Covid 19 Vaccine to attract an audience. The main point is that in order to amplifying an art piece, you need to bring some aspects of modern events or practices that people normally do in order to bring in a crowd. It may be controversial to some people but even political things as well, such as the covid vaccine, should be used.
Good point. Ideally, to draw attention to a monument, some kind of connection with the present day should be made. In Beecher's case, it would seem that the topic of racial justice is still quite relevant. And therefore, there should be ways to illuminate the history of this monument to shed light on present day concerns.
