AWAW at Grey Art Museum

Hello, My Name is Rihan A, I Visited the Grey Art Museum and seen a lot of art pieces that caught my eye which I can connect to. There was one I kept coming back to because it interest me. It was the Lynne Yamamoto (Born 1961, Honolulu; Based in Easthampton, MA)

Ringaroundarosie, 1997 Starched sleeves and cigarette burns. This piece were multiple sleeves coming out the wall with cigarette burns. The White sleeves represent what people usually would wear to work. This showed the amount of immigrants that came to America to work in such bad conditions to build a good life here. That is what the cigarette burns represented. It represented the hardship immigrants had to go through. It also interest me because I was able to connect it to the past of my Family that came from Yemen. Similar to other immigrants they were struggling to build a life in America. It showed how strong they were to give there children a good life even if they had to deal with bad working conditions.
