AWAW Experience

The exhibit felt like a journey of different perspectives of life, but one piece had me connected throughout my entire journey. What attracted me to this piece was the obvious meaning behind it. To show dedication to the ones that traveled and did the journey with you can be easily forgotton and not be appreciated enough. In certain angles it can be seen to me as minimalistic because the simple easily seen and understood message. It was eye opening and it had a brillant look to it that catches the viewers easily. I loved the way the papers are shaped as an eye and some of the papers hover over one another, it gives you a esentric feel to it. The piece Iv'e been talking about is by Valeska Soares, "For To (X)" made in 2017, the material is collaged book pages. The label gave me more to appreciate the artist on it stated "As Soares explains, books and their deconstructed elements 'store memories or stand in for a group of people, as a kind of material history". I like that she kneww the importance that her materials meant to people. What truly made me like this piece and come back to it specifically is the meaning of this piece its bold and easy (but strong) to see and catch on to. Unlike other pieces you really had to dig deep to find the message and meaning this piece blantly shows the purpose of the piece.
