Grey Museum Art Visit

Walking around the Grey Art Museum was very interesting because of the different art pieces. I saw what I thought looked like a colorful cloud that had dark raindrops coming out. The purple melted plastic and the black light in the back added a lot of depth to this piece of art. This piece is called Ram’s Delhi from Judy Pfaff. Pfaff’s artworks were described as “painting in space” which I feel like give her more freedom and creativity in expressing her ideas and concepts. She also goes over to say that she wants people to take her artwork with an open mind and take this piece as you interpret it as. Giving the audience more control over an art piece but also giving some details to start from. Pfaff used the metal wires to make double helix structures representing DNA. She shows how she connects nature and industrial technology, which can help further the analysis of her art piece to the public.

I enjoyed viewing this piece because it just reminded me how there are two sides to things and they might seem all sunshine and rainbows but there is also another side that can be dark as well. I also just feel like the melted plastic looks like a very cool water ripple with food coloring. I was mesmerized by the bright colors she used for the melted pieces and using dark fabric in between with the black light really tied those two different materials together.
