Walking into BRIC last Wednesday, I stumbled upon something that interested me—David Ellis's "Blue Spring" and "Red Spring." I expected the art to feel rough because of vinyl and resin, but it turned out to be smooth and way cooler than I thought.
What I Saw:
"Blue Spring" and "Red Spring" are not your typical paintings. They're like a mix of colors that smoothly blend from blue to red, making you feel like you're in different seasons. The vinyls (those round music things) are put together in a cool way that makes you feel order in the middle of chaos.
Take Away:
I learned that art can really surprise you. Even when you think you know what it's going to be like, it can be totally different—and that's a good thing. The smoothness, the awesome colors, and how the vinyls are arranged in these paintings teach us to enjoy the unexpected and see the beauty in how artists express themselves.
