The understanding I got form the sculpture when I first saw it. He Was a man of kindness and love , a great man that have live in our society in helping change many great minds and great people to our today generations, he worked on making black men's to be free and have their own opinions.
This sculpture indicates to me, that he is a man of God, strong man That fight for freedom, human rights for black slaves that came from Africa. That was fighting for their freedom. And some blacks Africans that were killed in enslaved. Beecher was a man that free slave helps homeless children's and children's that don't have families. He has his own church and spoke of the good words to many people.
The Art/ sculpture of African history in America

Do your research.
I understand most of the sculptures show half naked and full naked women and men bodies and their traditional and culture at that time how things were done on Africa, how African warriors fought for women and when they win, they will get marry to as many women they want to get marry to and provide their needs . Most young Africans women used to show their breast out to impress the warriors after a war, fighting between themselves or killing a large strong animal . The culture Traditionals was neat
Back in the 19 centuries till the new generation came and white man took a lot of everything away from the Africans .
The arm And finger pointing in the sky. Stands for unity of humanity
The Arm of unity sculpture stands for equality rights, love, care, and freedom for all people it doesn't matter your gender or color.
The finger that is pointing up stands for God Above everything we all need to respect be humble and work together in achieving greater success. That why America is a country of great opportunities, and many people always want to be here for a better future. Why I said so, is because many goods and bade things are here to help you choose who you want to be and where you will end up.
The kindness of Beecher
Beecher was a man that was known of many things, some people said he wasn't a good man some people said he was a great man.
in my opinion I think Beecher was a great man in the American community and help free a lot of black slaves and help many other people that needed help mostly.
He talked on behalf of black slaves to be free and speak on the good book of God.
In try hard to make everyone get under a one big umbrella by uniting us all and God above.
He was an open-hearted man that listened to people stories and try his best to help in changing their situation.

Thanks for writing about so many of the sculptures we saw. I'm curious to know what you thought of the Wilson. I realize that you have a different perspective on the African sculpture since you're from West Africa. Do you think Wilson is referencing the sculptures that Westerners took from Africa in the 19th century? What else?
